The 1961 Frosh baseball team could possibly be one of the best in the school's history. Tomorrow, the young Dons open up against Santa Clara there. Definitely the highlight of the young Don baseballers is the fine pitching corp which they will display on Ulrich Field. Headlining the top-flight mounds men is left-hander Jerry Eilers, a hard- throwing boy from Santa Rosa. Comprising the remainder of the staff are four talented right-handers: Dave Lee, Ken Nakamura, Pat Clark, and Chuck Rapp. Receiving the offerings of this talent-laden staff will be catcher Ken Bogdan. The infield will be comprised of: first baseman Dick Pianta- dosi, second baseman Paul Willard, shortstop Tom Brady, and third baseman Lou Zuardo. Defensively the infielders are very adequate, but their main boost for the team will be their power at the plate. The outfield is much the same in stature as the infield. Al McCutchen, Denny Ruhl, Mike Santich, and Art Fierrio will patrol the fields. The sparkplug of the team should be third baseman Lou Zuardo. Lou is a power hitter (TheFoghorn).
Ken Bogdan was a member of the Block Club, the Historical Society, and Pershing Rifles. He graduated in History in 1964.
