The 1971 USF soccer team stands to maintain its position as the winningest team on the Hilltop. With the return of many key lettermen, all strengthened by competition in rugged offseason leagues, the Dons rate as a heavy favorite to take the very tough West Coast Intercollegiate Soccer Conference crown. The Dons will be in tough in their conference as the ever powerful challenge of San Jose State looms overhead. USF seems however, to be the most powerful team, in both talent and spirit, in the WCISC and should take the crown. They are deep and strong in all positions, possibly the most potent unit in the country. If the Dons take the WCISC crown, they would then advance into their seventh consecutive Western Regional championship tournament with a distinct possibility of advancing to the NCAA finals (TheFoghorn).
