A native of Sacramento, Leake attended Miraloma High School; at 6' 2", 195 lbs., he batted and threw right. in 1993 he had a .250 AVG. 

Others trying to make an impact in the infield are Daryl Nitta (.375 High School AVG), and Jed Leake (.250 in 1993), who returns to the Hilltop after a three-year hiatus (USFFoghorn).
