Several times the crowd rose to its feet however as the Dons kept pestering the Golden Bears and narrowing the lead. Fran Englesse ended up topping all USF scorers with 17 points on 8 field goals. Sue Enos and Linda Fischer each added 12 points. Enos also pitched in 9 rebounds and Fischer collected five assists. Celine Watters, playing her last game as a Don thew in 8 points. Katie Holl and Clarice Cuaresma each added 6 points and Kim Stieglitz chipped in the other four points.
Lisa Lee and Kim Stieglitz made their contributions as well from opening game down to their performances against Pomona Pitzer and UC Riverside.
Marianna Chamberlin will hold down the pitching duties this year along with Shelley Libespeck. In the first game, Chamberlin did a superb job. displaying good control as she gave up only three walks. Fortunately, they'll both have a strong team behind them with Barb Goschke at first, Linda Fisher at second. Donna Price at short, Linda Kennerknect at third, Kathy McCoy and Theresa McGuinnes behind the plate, and an outfield of Penny Sexton. Kathy Bartoli, Michelle Hernandez, Gloria Smith and Shelley Liebespeck. Utility players Kim Stieglitz, Clarice Cuaresma, and Rhonda Elmore provide the depth needed on any athletic team. The women also use the designated hitter, and against Chabot, Theresa McGuinness was used and she rapped out one hit in three trips to the plate (TheFoghorn).
