The team batting average for the first twelve games is .243 and they have gathered 94 hits for 386 tries. Leading hitters on the squad are Al Souza, .314, Bill Gallagher, .300, Al Kirkes, .297, and John Alaura, .282. If the boys could put their hits together, they might score more runs as to date they have only tallied 41 against the enemies' 110. A good explanation for this is that USF has stranded 113 men in a dozen contests. Perhaps now that the weather has improved and the season has started to roll, the University of San Francisco will snap out of their "run" slump and bring home some wins for Coach Dutch Anderson.

On second is the lead-off hitter senior John Alaura. A good fielder and hitter, John has proven that he was made the lead-off batter for a reason. With seniors John Alaura, Bill Gallagher, and Al Souza, McGlynn's managerial debut here at USF promises to be a successful one. When questioned about his chances for the season, McGlynn glanced at his boys tossing and fielding the baseball and replied: "We're a good hitting club and we show very good fielding. Our pitching is shallow; we need more depth. But the season is just starting. We started slow, but the team is coming around (TheFoghorn)."
