Rob Hanke graduated from USF with a Bachelor's in Sports Administration in 1993, and now works for Recology as a District Manager.
The Waves were in control for most of the game as they pushed their advantage to a commanding 8-1 lead through 7 innings. In the eighth, the Dons exploded for six consecutive hits, four runs, and managed to bring the tying run to the plate. Freshman Cass Fegan started the rally with a one out single. Heath Haberlin followed by doubling to left-center and moving Fegan to third. Nelson, who had himself a career day (4-4, all singles), then knocked in Fegan. Jon Rochlin, Justin Speier, and Rob Hanke each singled for three straight RBI, respectively, to cut the lead to 8-5. Sammy Taylor flew out and Wave reliever Maurio Estavil struck out pinch hitter Matt Perata to end the inning.
The Diamond Dons infield will have to rebuild in 1993 after loosing all five starters from a year ago. Battling it out for the first base spot will be Nelson and JC transfers Chase Peckham and Matt Perata, with the edge to Nelson. It's up in the air who will start at 2nd base, either 1992 medical redshirt MarkFrizzi or returner Rob Hanke. Hanke will most likely get the start as the elder statesman (TheFoghorn).
