Play is interrupted by an interception for a second time by Steve Malucchi. They quickly score on a 30 yd. pass to Mark Thomas. Score 20-0. Malucchi gets his 2nd interception. The ball is moved well on a good catch by Restani. They score again on a 10 yd. play by Ward. Score: 28-0.

Don Benedetti singled. O'Leary was hit by a pitch. Malucchi drove in Benedetti for the first run by reaching first on an error. Gary Delagnes sacrificed the runners to second and third. Marty Cole walked and Berriatua reached base safely on another error while driving in O'Leary. Joe Marion then flied out for the second out. There it was, 7-3 with two outs and the bases loaded. Ric Restani singled home Malucchi. Luvisotti then collected three RBI's by doubling home Cole Berriatua, and Dave Jones who was running for Restani. 7-7, two out.

When the Southern Californians came up in the second inning, they exploded for six more runs on an error by third baseman, John Nutting, that allowed the first batter to reach base safely. Then Mark Carpenter walked, Cobb loaded the bases on an error by shortstop Tom Lunes, and three runs came across the plate, after a single by Mitchell to right field, which Steve Malucchi misjudged, allowing Mitchell to advance to third (TheFoghorn).
