Biography: Verzosa played tennis for two years on the Hilltop from 1984-1985. After graduation she became a public school teacher. She learned the value of community service through the Jesuit education she received at USF thus volunteered her time for many years.

Why Verzosa Chose USF: “I wanted a Jesuit education.”

Favorite USF Memories: “I remember feeling so intimidated by the other schools we played.  It's so different now, but USF back then was just a small catholic college attended by local Bay Area kids. Our opponents rosters were stacked with nationally ranked players. We would go to matches against schools like California and they would have everything sponsored: their gear, their uniforms--their stadium. It didn't matter. We'd play our best, then head back to the fog and the City in those old white USF vans singing to the radio.”

The USF Student-Athlete Experience: “The memories of joking around with your teammates during practices, consoling each other during losses, celebrating the wins. I realize these are the same memories that student-athletes have had through the years, no matter where or when they played. So I guess the best part is knowing that the memories and feelings you have connect you to all the athletes that preceded you, and all those that will follow you.”

Life After USF: USF taught Verzosa the importance of community service. She has volunteered and donated to many organizations through the years, and now, as a public school teacher, strives to make a positive impact in children's lives.
