Russell virtually assured himself of "Most Promising Player" award given at the completion of the tournament. Darol Smith, and Mario Veloso also were high in the scoring on this, the only Frosh team ever to crash into the PA quarter-finals. Mario, twin brother of Fred, has consistently cut the hoop with his long left handed push shots in the practice sessions. Counted on heavily to give the first team assistance is John DeMarchi and Darol Smith.
In trouncing the inept Bengals from Stockton, the Frosh barely extended themselves as Mario Veloso netted 11 and Russell claimed 14. This was the fourth consecutive CBA victory without a loss for the Donlets who have also humbled San Jose, Santa Clara, and St Mary's. Ensor AC was the last team to take the Don measure with a 78- 59 victory. Russell got 23 while Dan Powers and Mario Veloso scored nine points each (TheFoghorn).
