Let's face it, the average person is ignorant of track. What would you do if I started spouting off names such as Craig Virgin or Frank Shorter?  Shorter's gained notoriety through his marathon performances but what if I mentioned names such as Dave Price, Paul Herrerias or Debbie Finn? Besides being prime candidates for flunking out of school, they actually do something called running, cross country style.

PAUL HERRERIAS, the other half of the team's elder statesmen, loves to run. "Ever since eighth grade when I couldn't get rides home, I have always run. I found as I got into better shape, the more I liked to run." He seems to be the runner with the most competitive experience. "After my freshman year, I more or less took running lightly. I think before I had run about 70 miles a week, and suddenly I was down to 40 or 50. That's about the same as I'm doing now (TheFoghorn)."
