In Sunday's second game, pitchers Nick Mirizzi and Chad Baldwin stole the show. Mirizzi struck the first 8 out of 10 USF batters, before losing his composure later on. For the Hilltoppers, Baldwin gave up only one earned run on six hits through the first six innings.

Chad Baldwin again produced a fine performance on the hill for USF in Sunday's first game. The 6' 2" senior from San Rafael gave up seven hits and struck out five Lion batters en route to his second win of the year. Travis Walters came on for the save.

The Spartans tied the game in the seventh when DH Tim Gavello belted Chad Baldwin's hanging breaking ball over the left field fence. In relief, loosing pitcher John Brown (0-2) gave up three more runs in the eighth on pinch hitter Dean Madsen's RBI double with the bases jammed. Baldwin pitched well into the seventh after being hit hard early in the game. He looked to cruise to a relatively easy win until Gavello's line drive homer persuaded Head Coach Jim Bowman to pull him after 6+ innings (TheFoghorn).
