Kevin Keating played third base for the Dons for three seasons and graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor's.

Kevin Keating has been perhaps the most hustling player ever in USF history. history. No matter where he plays, what the situation may be at the time, or if he is playing or not, Keating is hustling. USF's answer to Pete Rose is this year's leading hitter, playing a variety of positions in the process. Whether it be DH or catcher, or third base, or left out, Keating gives it his all,  despite enough scrapes, stitches, cuts and bruises to halt a charging bull. Keating is just another example of a player in the Benedetti tradition, playing the same style that his coach once played himself.

Two of Lounibos' hits came in the opener against Reno on Friday, in which the Dons were limited to just five altogether, Kevin Keating, Tony Scoma, and Reggie Brown delivering the others. In that contest the Dons were limited to just one run, but USF gave up a considerable amount to bury themselves in the first two innings. But Jim Leoni came in to keep things from getting embarrassing. Pitching the final six innings, Leoni gave up but one earned run and only one hit after the fourth inning. He also fanned five men over that period. It was the fourth consecutive outstanding performance by the awesome senior righthander who has fast become the Don ace of the bullpen. In Saturday's first game not even eleven hits and four runs could halt the hot Reno bats. Santora pounded out two hits including a double as did designated hitter Lindsay Yoshimura. Bob Bachtold added a double and other base hits came from the bats of Brown, Lounibos, second-baseman Mitch Kim, and Jerry Bloodsaw. Kim and Lounibos continued their streaks in the second game of the afternoon as did Santora but even those hits coupled with two hits each from centerfielder Dennis "Rocky" Carmassi and catcher Kevin Keating were not enough to halt the Reno bunch (TheFoghorn).
