With regard to multiple pass plays, the USF boys again led all Coast teams, and rate third in the country. Against Gonzaga, Mike Bacciarini passed to Leo LeRoy, who lateraled to Seb Passinisi, who in turn lateraled to "Pop" Blewett for a total gain of sixty-seven yards and a touchdown. Pop Blewett led all Coasters with goals after touchdowns, booting eleven through the uprights. Leo LeRoy worked well at his end position, as did Chevalier and Arneson at full and Wells, Del Baggio and Hale at half.
LeRoy Hurls: The outstanding feature of the game was the hustle and alertness on the part of both squads. Leo LeRoy hurled the whole game and had the Squadron in the air all day. Not an opposing runner dented home plate until the eighth inning and the six hits garnered off LeRoy were for the most part obtained during the last two cantos. Leo Leroy led the Don hitters with three for three, while hustling Joe Gerardin was right behind him with three for four.
Freshman basketball stars whom the university at large might care to know better are Dennis Martin, George Mason, Joe Sanz, Jens Bugge and Leo LeRoy. All five of these men have been outstanding throughout the freshman season. Leo LeRoy, a fellow who while at high school was a three-letter man, incidentally also comes from Sequoia. LeRoy made the All-Peninsula team for two years with Bugge. Strange as it may seem, while in high school he entered the Hall of Fame as one of those ball players who pitches a "no-hit no-run" game (TheFoghorn).
