On Tuesday, the Dons hosted the Aggies of UC Davis, a team that beat them 4-0 in 1985. USF again jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute as senior Mette Ovringmo scored after a run into the penalty area with the assist credited to Haines. Davis' Shelly Gimbal then tied the match at 35:10 with a long lob shot over goalie Angela Whitney.

On Wednesday, the Dons showed that improvement does not come overnight. A humbling 4-0 loss to San Francisco State dropped the team's record to 1-3. Four first half goals took the Dons out of the game quick, the first two coming on breakaways on offsides calls the referee missed. "Most of these girls don't really know what the rivalry is with State," said Mette Ovringmo. "I would say there was a lot less intensity today (than last year's match)."

The veterans will be led by senior midfielder Terry Wheeler, midfielder Mette Ovringmo, and sophomore sweeper Maureen McLaughlin. Other returnees include senior forward Devorah Steinberg and sophomore fullback Nicole Gallegos (TheFoghorn).
