Pitching, which was the team's outstanding weakness at the start of the current season, also should be better next year. Don Costello, Bill Butler and Chuck Falcone are all underclassmen. The team's top twirlers, Dick Lawless and John Walsh, will also be around to toss for the Dons in 1954.
The Dons managed to score only one run and that was not until the eighth tallied three runs in the first, three in the second, nine in the fourth and two in the eighth for the 17 run output. The Hilltop committed four errors and twirlers Gallagher, Costello, and Lawless combined to yield 15 base hits and 10 walks (TheFoghorn).
