Peter Santora, Jr.

  • Class
    1977
  • Honors
    Baseball (1974-1977)

For four years now Pete Santora has delivered day after day for the Dons in some capacity. He has seen days where he has gone hitless at the plate, sometimes the victim of opponent curve balls but don't ever give Pete Santora a fast ball if you wish the ball to stay in the park. More often than not, Santora has driven countless runs with line drives that have earned him the title "Mr. Rope." He's also added a few tape measure shots that have caused insurance companies to raise the rates of Golden Gate avenue residents. Likewise on defense, Santora has provided "Iron Man" support, playing every position on the field at least once.

Each of the players on the squad has had sparks of brilliance as cited by the earlier articles on the squad on this page. This week belonged to Pete Santora, Tom Lounibos, Mike Sears and Jim Leoni for the most part. Lounibos, the Dons junior shortstop went 5-11 for the weekend while playing with his usual authority in the field as did Pete Santora who lifted his average closer to the .300 mark at the plate and drove in several key runs to keep the games within reach (TheFoghorn).
