Joseph Francis Giannini was born on September 8, 1888 in Drytown, CA, and was a shortstop who played briefly for the Boston Red Sox during the 1911 season. Listed at 5 ft 8 in 155 lb., Giannini batted left-handed and threw right-handed. A native he was signed by the Boston Red Sox out of USF.

Giannini was a major leaguer whose career was short. He appeared in one game and hit a double in two at-bats for a .500 average, without runs or RBI. As a fielder, he collected two assists and committed two errors (Wikipedia).

As the paper goes to press in the early days of the season, nothing can be said of the work of the varsity squad. The material at hand looks promising and Captain-Manager Giannini assures us that he will turn out a winning team (TheIgnatian).
