"Mr. Cool " Anthony Lewis, 6' 4", 185 lbs., was Coach Gaillard's number 1 substitute last season at guard. When called upon, Anthony continually responded with tenacious rebounding. His appearance gives opposing players a great misconception of his overall strength which is considerable. Anthony is a real crowd pleaser when it comes time for him to shoot fouls. His unorthodox stance at the line netted a 74.2% accuracy rating — mostly in clutch situations. Coach Gaillard commented about Anthony, "Strongest in the clutch, Anthony is a vital factor coming off the bench. He seems to play better whenever the pressure is the greatest. His defensive ability and knowledge of the game make him a strong front line reserve. He thrives on stopping the offensive power of the opponent's main player. Lewis had his best game last year against San Francisco State netting 20 points including a game-ending half court swisher. An English major, Anthony attended world famous McClymonds High School in Oakland (USFFoghorn).Â
