There is evidence of improvement and the potential is there. Matt Allio. and Andre Rachal have improved immensely. Jeff Dietrich and Joe Miller are starting to throw as they did in the first few weeks of the Season. Defensively, the Dons may have one of the leagues finest with Monico Corral and Bill Murray working at short and second. Two strong catchers in Mark Johnson and Greg Eagletongive USF one of the finest I- 2 tandems around.

With the help of back to back homer uns by Mark Johnson and freshman Steve Scolini, the Dons took the Gaels 6-4. Jeff Dietrich picked up his first college victory while Joe Miller was credited with a save. The next day the Dons returned to USF for their home opener before a SRO crowd. Monico Corral made the day a success with three hits including a two run homer in a 9-2 rout. Matt Allio picked up the win in relief of chuck Nat while Miller recorded another save. The second game was called in the 4th inning because of darkness (TheFoghorn).
