graduated in German and was a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Robert F. Braunreiterwas born on October 3, 1924 in Milwaukee, WI to Joseph Braunreiter and Anna Hornik Braunreiter. He graduated from Messmer High School in Milwaukee and spent one year at Regis College in Denver, having been recruited for the Regis basketball team. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and fought in General Patton's army in Belgium and Germany, reaching the rank of Technical Sergeant. After WWII, he was recruited to play football at the University of San Francisco. He earned his Degree in German with a minor in History from USF in 1949. At USF, he was a member of the Sodality Club, the Letter Society and ROTC. 

He later obtained a Masters in German from U.C. Berkeley. For 35 years he taught German and various physical education classes at Lowell High School. He also served as Assistant Coach for the varsity football team and coached JV baseball. He had a weekend "dream job" as a member of the 49ers "chain gang" during the Bill Walsh-Joe Montana era (SFChronicle).
