The 1966 grid season turned out to be exactly as Coach Ron Pierceall had predicted a year for building. When the season began with a series of victories over Chico State, Claremont-Mudd. and Cal. Riverside, it appeared the Dons would have a winning year. But the dream ended, and USF went into defeat in the next five games. In the final game of the season, USF came back to defeat Cal. State at Hayward 20-0. This year's squad will lose only five players to graduation. With most of the team returning, USF will have the experience needed for a victorious season next year (TheDon).
