The University of San Francisco Dons golf team scored an impressive one-stroke team victory over the field in the Sacramento State Invitational Tournament March 6-7. USF had three players in the top five for individual leaders; Mike Fabian and Todd Fischer (224), and Brad Morrell (225). "Any time you have three individuals who could have won, which is unusual, you know you're going to take first, second, or third place." Head Coach Dick Nicolopulos said that the Dons participation marked the first time they have played in this tournament since 1983.

The USF golf team with good overall performances by sophomore Mike Fabian and junior Brad Morrell, placed a solid third in the USF Invitational held this week at the Olympic Club. The Dons came in behind first place UCLA, and only a stroke behind second place Weber State. this is the third year for the tourney, and the first in which all Bay Area colleges were chosen to participate. Hopefully this will become a tradition. Monday, the Dons stood in second place, 6 strokes ahead of Weber State, but seemed to falter a bit Tuesday in the final 18 holes. The golfing Dons turned in four solid performances this fall, and with continued improvement, can perform admirably in spring (TheFoghorn).
