The Dons annihilated Sonoma in the opener by a score of 10-0. Ace pitcher, Cindy Meyer, gave up just four hits and struck out five on route to an impressive shut out. Catcher Annette Blandford, who caught for Meyer at West Valley College, called a brilliant game, mixing up the pitches nicely.They have power hitting from Annette Blandford, Sue Drengacz, and Diana Foster. Annette Liccardo provides excellent speed on t he bases and is always a threat to steal when she gets on. Patty Doyle at second and Cindy Lefferts at shortstop are an excellent double-play combination. The only area that isn't set is the outfield. Annette Liccardo will play left, but the other two positions are still not established. Injuries to key players have made it difficult for Coach Mike Rice to decide who will play on a regular basis (TheFoghorn).
