Freshman Amy Souza pounced on a loose ball and lofted it over the goalie. Silva finished thc goal-fest with a 15-foot shot on an assist from Souza. Silva scored again in the second half for the victory. Chico entered the game as the #6 team in the nation for Division II.
USF's Amy Souza set the tone of the match by heading in an attempted shot by teammate Hege Johnsen that deflected off the crossbar at the 5:33 mark. Johnsen then added a goal of her own by taking a pass from freshman Denise Kenyon and sailing it past leaping Hayward keeper Jennifer DeClerq. The goal came at the 35:23 mark and game USF a commanding 2-0 half-time lead (TheFoghorn).
