The main event, and the game that I came to see. began next — the USF Dons versus the Santa Clara Broncos. The Dons controlled the opening kickoff and were able to score soon after on a goal by Felipe Magalhaes. USF seemed to adjust to Indoor soccer better than Santa Clara. They were able to score the next two goals via Roar Anderson and Stanislau Musilek. The Dons responded to a Santa Clara goal with a goal by Danny Civitarese, making the score at the end of the first period four to one.
Last season USF totally annihilated St Mary's by a score of 23-0. However the Gaels are much improved under second year coach Randy Farris and more than held their own. However the Gaels could not stop All-American Bjorn Tronstad who broke out of an early season scoring slump with four goals while Danny Civitarese added two more (TheFoghorn).
