University of San Francisco Athletics

After a two-year absence of basketball in 1982, the university decided to restart the program in 1984, and selected Jim Brovelli, the then Head Coach at the University of San Diego, to direct the Dons. In the fall, Brovelli signed high school seniors Robby Grisby, a 5-10 guard from San Francisco; and 6-5 swing man Anthony Mann, out of Compton, CA. He also signed junior-college swing man Darrell Walker. Brovelli said Grisby, Mann and McCathrion will be the only high school players signed to letters of intent for this season. The others will be junior college transfers (UPI). Mann played two years for the Dons.
