Charles Ruggeroli was born January 2, 1942, in Salt Lake City. He was a life time resident of Las Vegas. He attended Bishop Gorman High School and lettered in three sports all four years. He attended the University of San Francisco in 1960 on a full scholarship in basketball. While at USF he pursued baseball and secured a scholarship in that sport. After three years at USF he was accepted into Creighton University as a medical student.

He spent five years in Omaha, NE, and was drafted into the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Charles served as a General Medical Officer at the Richards Gebaur Air Force Base in Missouri. He then moved to Stockton, CA, to complete his medical residency at San Joaquin General Hospital. His cardiology fellowship was served at Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco. In August of 1974, he and his family moved to Las Vegas, where he entered into private practice. Charles practiced medicine for over 30 years in Las Vegas. He served as a member of the Board of Governors at Valley Hospital for many years. He also served as a Cardiologist and a Commissioner for the Nevada Athletic Commission.
