The real story of this game occurred in the bottom of the third, as J.J. Cortes, second baseman, stepped up to the plate with the Dons leading 1-0. A fast ball from the Davis pitcher wildly struck Cortes in the forehead below his batting helmet. He miraculously escaped with nothing more than a headache and a black eye. Kyle Hauger replaced Cortes and and was on base for Sambel's second homer (TheFoghorn).
