So, as the young Dons continue their baptism under fire at the San Diego State Invitational this weekend, they must attempt to compensate for the big disadvantage of having only three weeks of practice under new coach Laurie Flachmeier Corbelli. "We realize these teams are of high caliber," said an upbeat Corbelli. "It could only be good for us to work hard against these teams." As difficult it may be, Corbelli will try new people to strengthen the attack. Outside hitters Mary Carlson and Maryu Toole will be challenged by Ann Podesta, and possibly by Karen Smalls, iwhen Corbelli determines who would be most effective there. Carlson and Toole, though talented, must compensate for their lack of height. For that reason, Corbelli wants to try the 6'0" Podesta (TheFoghorn).
