Ray McDonald was born April 7, 1965, attended Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, and played baseball for the Dons from 1985 to 1986. In high school, he hit .490 in 1982 (West Catholic Athletic League stats). He batted and threw right, and was 6' 3" and 197 lbs.

The spring season involved mainly two major sports, baseball and softball. The Diamond Dons, under the tutelage of Coach Ken Bouman. finished over .500 (at 24-23) for the first time in 15years. The Dons relied mainly on power hitters Ray McDonald and John Hunt for offensive support, while receiving fine fielding from McDonald at third and Steve Berriatua at short (TheFoghorn).
