Leading off the bottom of the ninth with the score again knotted, 8-8, Roberto Garcia drew a walk and was replaced at first by Tachs. Ricardo Banuelos sacrifice attempt was popped up behind the plate where Nitschke made a siding catch, but speedy Tachs tagged up and advanced to second. Watkins and freshman Brian Hardt then walked, loading the bases and setting the stage for McDaniels.

MaDaniels blooped a fly ball down the line in left, giving Tony rhein a victory in his decision of the year and dropping Gaels' record to 23-16, 11-10 in the WCC. It was McDaniels' third game-winning RBI of the season, tops for the Dons (TheFoghorn).
