CHRISTA DOWNEY

Outside Hitter at 5'-9", born on March 2, 1981... in Geneseo, New York, daughter of Tom and Linda Downey, Nazareth Univeristy coach in Rochester, NY.

Scholastic: a graduate of Livonia High School, Downey played five seasons there for her mother, who took over at Nazareth in 1999... she earned First-Team All-State Honors three times in volleyball while leading team to state title in 1996 and title game appearances in 1997 and 1998... helped her high school to five league and Section Five titles and was named Class B MVP three times...
 

1999: Transferred to Nazareth before the 2000 season from the University of San Francisco, where she played regularly in 1999 for the Division I Dons... produced 157 kills and 191 digs for a team that finished 13-17...At Nazareth she earned multiple honors and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business (NazarethAthletics).
