The frosh baseball team closed out its season on a sour note last Wednesday losing to SF State 9-2. The final record for the frosh was eight wins and twelve losses. Actually, considering the lack of any really "star" material and the great number of injuries, the frosh really didn't have such a bad year. Among those who were injured and missed all or part of the season were Bill Mustanich. Bob Kochly, Frank Zbacnik, Jim Johnson, Scott Tandy, Dave Worthen and Tom McMullen. Pitcher Mike Delagnes and outfielder Grant Steer appear to be the most outstanding prospects for the varsity next year. Delagnes had a fine year on the Hill, despite erratic support at times and finished with a 4-4 won-lost record. Steer, an excellent fielder with a fine arm, was third in team batting with a .260 average. He was also the team's top base-stealer. The leading hitter on this year's team was catcher Fred Fegan who battled an even .300. Mike Laurel was second with a .277 BA and third-sacker Bill Hutson led in the hit department with fifteen hits and a .254 BA (TheFoghorn).
