The 10 high school eagers listed are rated by Bob Gaillard and his scouting assistants as the best Northern California has to offer. Only one player from the powerful East Bay Catholic Athletic League was selected, 6’1” guard Dan Dion, who clearly established himself as the best. Likewise is the case of 6' 1” back courter Brad Quanstrom of league champion Westmoor (Daly City).
Leading Coach McClintock's charges this year will be Eric Fernsten and Brad Quanstrom. Fernsten a 6' 8" center-forward, uses his height and bulk to stalk the offensive boards and ram home short jumpers and tips. In addition to his fine offensive play, Eric possesses fine leaping ability, which enables him to block many an opponent's shots. In his senior year of high school, Fernstein was considered one of the topflight college prospects in Northern California. Quanstrom, a 6' 2" guard, is a fine outside shooter and defender. A much sought-after high school player, Brad uses his extraordinary quickness to penetrate defenses for flashy baskets and sharp passes. Quanstrom was accorded such honors as All-League, All- County, and All-NorCal in his senior year, in addition to making one All-American team (TheFoghorn).
