Biography: Hunter played tennis for two years on the Hilltop and during his time the team played a competitive schedule against Bay Area and other Northern California colleges. After graduation Hunter became an attorney and was involved with city government in St. Helena. He is an active runner who has run in more than 125 marathons.
Why Hunter Chose USF: “Several close relatives had attended and graduated from USF so I wanted to continue the tradition.”
Favorite USF Memories: “My best memories were learning how to prepare and compete from senior tennis stars Rich Williams and John Carpenter, plus discipline from Coach Dr. George McGlynn.”
The USF Student-Athlete Experience: “I had to learn to budget my time between academic studies and athletics, while also being engaged in campus life."
Life After USF: Hunter graduated from the USF School of Law in 1975 and has been a practicing attorney in St. Helena for over 40 years. He served two terms as an elected member of the St. Helena City Council, was selected as a "Community Hero" member of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Torch Relay, and has served as an active member of the Board of Directors, including as President or Chairman, of numerous local nonprofit organizations. Hunter has completed 125+ marathons, including 25 consecutive Boston Marathons, 25 consecutive CIM, and 27 consecutive Napa Valley Marathons, plus he has run 25 consecutive Bay to Breakers.
