The Dons earned the right to the NCAA berth by defeating Cal and Stanford in the last two games of the season en route to finishing with a 6-1 seasonal conference mark. Every player on the Don squad saw action in the playoff. Those players who made the St. Louis trip were Ed Zelaya, Pete Grauert, Tim Brophy, Ed Duran, Tony Mombiela, George Tubman, Joe Bakovic, Mauricio Salaverria, Marcello Gumucio, Tony Njoku, John Harper, Alex Ysrael, Fred Savage, and Massoud Baghai.
In the last quarter Bill Calendo, who plays both JV and varsity, was helped off the field with an injured knee. The exact extent of the injury was not determined. Donoghue played every varsity player he had, plus a few of the JV's. The varsity players were Lou Duran, Mauricio Salaverria, Marcelo Gumucio, Les Lescano, and Sal Irahata (TheFoghorn).
