Dick Brainard was a 6' 4" guard from Fresno, CA recruited by Pete Peletta for the Dons basketball team, and he played from 1962 to 1964.
Dick Brainard, a 6-4 190 pound forward, who comes from Fresno's McLaine High School, is one of the best passers that has come this way in a long time. Dick has a fine, quick pair of hands and is tough on defense. He has a good jump shot, and is real strong on the boards.
It's always a pleasure and a joy to greet the new basketball campaign. Everyone on campus gets spirited, and the student atmosphere really ascends. Last weekend, with the opening two games of the season, athletic spirit shifted into high gear. Jerry Hilliard and his capable crew put on a terrific rally before the first tilt, and the ball players showed tremendous desire in their first two victories of the year. Both the new and the old performed capably in the first two encounters. Newcomers Ollie Johnson, Dick Brainard, and Huey Thomas showed innumerable signs of brilliance in their first varsity competition (TheFoghorn).
