Forward Stan Jonah was a vital member of the high-scoring Don front line. His point making ability contributed heavily to the early USF victories over Cal and Stanford. The presence of this two year veteran on the squad acted as a steadying influence on the other members of this young ball club. Stan, a senior, graduates this year and his loss will be felt greatly by the team next season (TheDon).
Other returning letterman who will probably start in tomorrow's fracus are Oleg Pannoff, Stan Jonah, Benny Razon and Peter Wolf. Around these returning veterans Donohue has shaped his squad. Other bright lights on the Don eleven are Erick Fink, left half, Alex Portacarreo, and Julio Ayala. Stars for the Junior Varsity last year these boys should be a big help to the Green and Gold forces. Rodrigo Esquivan, Benny Schwietzer, Ed Duran, and Armando Onoro are among this year's crop of transfers, and these, along with many others, are expected to shoulder some of the load now carried by the returning letter men.
Diaz made the outstanding play of the game when, on a Murcury kick that got past Don goalie Bob Braghetta, he moved into the goal and "headed" away a sure goal. Rodrigo Esquivan, Arnold Onoro, Stan Jonah, and Bob Machado made some sparkling plays for the Dons, but as a whole the team seemed to lack that unified spirit that has typified the USF championship teams of the past. The two teams meet again this Saturday with Coach Donoghue returning to take the reins from Assistant Coaches Bill Bigarani and Tony Ragusa, who performed very ably last week (TheFoghorn).
