Matt Dolph attended Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto and graduated from USF in 1992 with a Bachelor's in Business. He played soccer with the Dons in 1990. After graduation he started as CEO of VitalCare Corporation, a home care agency in Denver, Colorado.
USF struck quickly and dramatically as Knut Leroy scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Ken Folan. Folan crossed from the left-corner to Leroy, who headed in the ball past a stunned Hornet goalkeeper at 1:55 into the game. After constantly attacking the Hornet goal, Jan Nordvik broke away from the Sacramento defenders and passed to a wide-open Zack Taylor at the 38:47 mark for a 2-0 lead. USF out shot Sacramento 9-5 in the first half. The Dons turned up the pressure even more in the second half as they missed several chances to increase their lead before Cato Solbrrg scored his third goal of the season on an assist from Taylor at 49:19. USF made it 4-0 at the 76:11 mark, as Angelo Sablo took an assist from Matt Dolph and boomed a kick past the diving Hornet goalkeeper (TheFoghorn).
