Too many times athletes are stereotyped into one homogeneous mold. Fortunately, the Dons have personality. It shows in their nicknames. Grandpa Jimmy Darrell "Sky" Walker, and Al "Sleepy" Attles have more practical names. Sleepy refers to the similar playing styles to the Warrior guard and Attles' perpetually drowsy facial expressions. There is "Stormin Normin" Parham, Boo, and the Chief. Robbie "Juice" Grigsby can dunk with the likes of Dollar Bill Hill. But my personal favorite is the name for guard Mike D'Aloisio. The player they call "Gun-a-ria". After all these are the college years. It's nice to know the 85-86 Dons have personality and are education-minded. There is no doubt the basketball program will be a shining example of how a major sports program can be competitive and honest. We all will be the benefactors.

But the Dons roared back in the second half, thanks to 13 second half points from center Peter Reitz, and some timely free throw shooting by guard Mike D'Aloisio and forward Mark McCathrion, whose left-handed tip-in with 54 seconds left provided decisive. That proved to be the only league game that USF has succeeded in winning so far, however, as the last 5 games have been defeats (TheFoghorn).
