Weather Doesn't Stop Fun at 11th Annual Tom Caruso 5k Run
SAN FRANCISCO — Rainy and windy conditions didn't deter nearly 150 athletes from taking part in the 11th Annual Tom Caruso 5k Run on Sunday morning at Golden Gate Park.

The first runner to cross the line was Austin Ramos in 15:20.4. Taking second and third place for the men were Bryan Gillis and USF volunteer cross country assistant coach Torrey Olson in 15:24.1 and 15:55.1, respectively.

Taking first place in the women's race for the second consecutive year was Sara Gigliotti in 19:04.1. Caroline Piper was second in a time of 21:55 and Possy Lavelle finished third in 22:21.8.

USF's volleyball, baseball and men's soccer teams all competed in the race. Nearly half of the competitors in the race were USF student-athletes. The USF cross country and track and field teams ran the event.

David Yount, a freshman forward on the soccer team, was the first Don to cross the finish line with a run of 17:48.2. Junior left-handed pitcher Jordan Remer led the baseball team in 18:44.7 and sophomore Leanna Ludes paced the volleyball team with a time of 25:47.2.
