Don Harriers Open Season With A Bang

At the mountainous Crystal Springs course near San Mateo, the University of San Francisco's Men's and Women's Cross Country Team opened the season on a losing note, but were highlighted by individual performances from Franck Tardivat and Cindy Donoghue. Tardivat completed the five kilometer course in 15:55, out-sprinting Alex Wemquist of the San Francisco State Gators in the final 20 meters. Despite Tardivat's victory, the Dons lost the meet in the Gators 24-33 (the method of scoring is adding up the places of the first five finishers of a team with the lowest score).

The top five men behind Tardivat were John Logan who finished fifth overall, James MoGenee in sixth place, and Mike Ruz and Pat Mauro in 11th and 12th place respectively. Coach John Drocco was pleased with his team's performance saying, "this was only a tune-up for the upcoming meets," adding "this was only a three and a half mile race, which is much shorter than the usual five milers we'll be running during the regular season (TheFoghorn)." Logan also played LaCrosse for the Dons.
