The Gales, ironically, are the team that opened the Dons league schedule, handing the Hilltoppers
their first three league losses. Since that time. the Dons have seen more than their share of rough contests. Not even a sweep this weekend to lessen the agony of one of the most disastrous seasons in the history of USF sports. For those involved with that team, perhaps this has been one of the longer seasons.

But the Dons are not a team without some bright points. In years previous to this, a lot of pride has come about because of the USF program in baseball. This team is not without that trait and although shadowed by the double digit number in the defeat column, there are those that will he leaders of the future on this very squad.

Until the Miller Sports Award was established in the Foghorn, no one on campus ever knew a junior named Reggie Brown, who has lived through the worse seasons in Don history without a complaint. After less than 20 wins and over 100 losses in a two year span, one would think that a player might develop some sort of defeatist complex. But Reggie has instead "been of the most consistent performers in recent Diamond Don history. Just two weeks ago, when the team had already amassed 40 losses, Brown's over the shoulder catch and peg to second base for a double play reminded some of a similar catch by Willie Mays during the 1954 World Series. Against the same Bronco team the next day, Brown used his bat for four hits and five trips to the plate. And this all came after the Don season was all but buried. Brown is the Don's future and his example as a performer is the bright hope of the future (USFFoghorn).
