"We have to concentrate, focus, leave things off the court, and concentrate on beating the team across the net," Karin Wallenstein Women's Volleyball Head Coach said on tying the game at 14. Cal won the game 16-14 and USF lost control in game two. "We had the right intensity in game one," Wallenstein said after the game. "(We) came out in game two with the same intensity but couldn't sustain it." Wallenstein noted that a lack of communication in the second game took offense and confidence down. Cal took games two and three 15- 10 and 15-2, ending their five match losing streak and putting USF's record at 3-7.
The team's new members are expected to provide more depth for the team. Shannon Buller and Skye Lewis are expected to bring additional, and much needed, offense, while Nikole Harford will bolster the team's defense. Lewis will team up with fellow right-side hitter Amber Felix. Felix, entering her senior year, missed all of last spring due to injury but is expected to see quality time this year (TheFoghorn).
