USF came back with a 66 yard drive of their own, as tight end Chris Boyd, outfought Pioneer defensive backs for the 32 yard reception and a touchdown (TheDon).

Boyd was also on the boxing team as a Heavyweight at 195 lbs.

Quarterback Bob Webb, by completing 11 of 22 passes against Nevada, ran his season totals to 28 completions in 46 attempts for 350 yards. After hauling in five more aerials last week, end Chris Boyd has now caught 14 for 135 yards.

With the ball on the Chico 10, Bidegary rolled right and threw to Chris Boyd who made a brilliant reception at the flag and stepped into the end zone. O'Leary converted and the Dons were holding Chico in check (TheFoghorn).

At USF, a second home for some of the nation's most talented soccer players, it seems strange that USF's kicking game is no more than adequate. To be sure, the Dons sport a former soccer player, Chris Boyd, but he's a fullback. Coach Pierceall has a simple answer. Because a few soccer kickers have made it big on the gridiron does not mean every booter can kick footballs. They are exceptions rather than the rule. No doubt there may be a handful of USF soccer players who can split the up-rights. But they would have to give up their sport completely in order to compete in the 5-day-a-week football drill sessions. And besides, whatever it may prove, Sports Illustrated ran a story on a group of U.S. "orthodox" field goal kickers who visited Europe in a "head-on" duel with soccer kickers. The "orthodoxes" took the contest by a decisive margin, especially from distances over 40 yards (TheFoghorn).
