Saturday's contest was featured with potent stick work, especially by frosh shortstop, Bill Shanahan. It was Bill's double and triple that took the pressure off of winning hurler, "Frenchy" LaBourdette. LaBourdette held the Healdsburg boys to two scattered hits, and was never in serious trouble.

In the Santa Clara game it was a see-saw battle for six innings. At that time the score was 5-3, the Broncos in front. In the big sixth, the green and gold boys got 3 runs and were never headed from there on. They added two more runs to their total, and pitcher "Lefty" Curtin garnered the win, the final count being 8-5. Again the instrumental hitting and fielding of shortstop Shanahan was the feature of the day.

The Junior Dons whose purpose is the developing of future varsity players expects to contribute many players to Pete Newell's 1948 varsity—men like Bill Shanahan, who throughout the year played a sparkling brand of ball, and will give varsity players a run for their money. The keystone combination of Shanahan and Maloney gave thc JV's an average of two double plays a game (TheFoghorn).
