Bussenius comes to the Hilltop this month and with him are some of the bright prospects who were his pupils. They include Don Giesen and Jack Horn, who along with Ivan Slavich, comprise the former All-City cagers. Returning from the United States Armed Forces will be William Gibson, who played under Jim Needles and Forrest Twogood. Also coming to the Hilltop will be Galileo's Varsity All-City, Dolph Pippus, a remarkable athlete, and George Boicelli, former Don 1941 star. George Boicelli will be at center while Frank Lippolis, presently on the Hilltop, handles one of the guard posts.The Basketball schedule, according to Bob Jerome, will be published in the Foghorn in the very near future. Be on the lookout for it and get behind the team and support it.
The USF starting lineup was Ivan Slavich and George Boicelli at forwards, Don Geisen at center, and Walt Kolling and Dave Rapkin at guards. The Dons took an early lead and kept it all the way. Walt Kolling led the attack in the first half, sinking eight points. The half-time score was 23-10. Don Geisen, former George Washington ace, spear-headed the Hill Toppers in the second half. Geisen was high point man with 13, Kolling scored 10, Rapkin 7, Slavich 6, Camerar 6, and Boicelli 4. Horn, another Washington eager, played in the last quarter (TheFoghorn).
