1934 All-AAA Jean LaCau, Galileo High School, FB.Â
Today is "Big Game Day"! The First All-City, and of the five stars who will appear in action in this afternoon's Poly vs. Lowell championship annual classic, three are from Lowell, two are from Poly, and are named on the All-City selection of the AAA official football program. They are: Ted Spirz (Galileo), Oran DeVoto (Galileo), Bill Pedrin (Lowell), Dick Sutton (Lowell), Frank Russo (Galileo), Fidel Neilson (Poly), Joe Hurley (Balboa), Roy Yuretich (Balboa), Vance Peters (Poly), Jerry Dowd (Lowell), and Jean LaCau (Galileo).
The backfield, we believe, is the most well-balanced quartet conceivable, containing Roy Yuretich, Balboa star passing and plunging fullback, at quarter; Vance Peters, best all-round best halfback in the loop; Jerry Dowd, Lowell's triple threat fullback star; and Jean "Battering Ram" Lacau, the big Galileo fullback, at the fullback spot (CIF-SF.org).
From 1936 to 1937, Lacau played full back for the University of Oregon Varsity football team, prior to transferring to USF.
1938 University of San Francisco Don Varsity, small in quantity, but impressive in quality, is this year's edition of the University of San Francisco Varsity.
