The Brain Trust: Besides displaying rare talents on the football field, Johnny Cavel- ero, the frosh phenom fullback, drags down a straight "A" in the classroom. Cavelero isn't alone among the grid men who run for scholastic touchdowns. Tank Hill, Trude Spearman, Gene Visentin and Pete Gonsalves are frequent guests of the honor roll columns, which proves that football players do more than just play football.
Pete Gonsalves takes over the left guard spot originally held by Trude Spearman. This is undoubtedly a strategy move on the part of Malley because, due to the wealth of material at the guards this year (there are thirteen), he can substitute freely. Besides Clerou and Spearman are not built to stand an entire sixty-minute ball game. Benedetti is a senior with one year of experience, standing 5.9 and weighing 160 pounds. Gonsalves is a sophomore who has yet to play a college game although he was considered the greatest prospect ever to come out of the San Joaquin Valley League. Pete is 5.11 and weighs 192 pounds (TheFoghorn).
