Despite the injury to one of the team's top players, the Dons still played 119 minutes of inspired soccer. Ken Folan, Cato Solberg, and Vandenberg each chipped in two shots, followed by Staale Soebye with one. Zack Taylor also played a strong game from the midfield position. While the stingy Portland defense stifled the methodical Don offense, the USF defense held its own against the 16th rated Pilot squad, not allowing a goal for over 100 minutes. Wescott, Matt Beavers and Todd Woodhouse, a young trio who each have two years of eligibility, turned out dedicated and efficient play. "Overall, I feel we outplayed them," said Wescott. "The defensive unit is the strongest portion of our team." Goalkeeper Scott Thompson made seven saves and faced 10 corner kicks in another gusty performance typical of his style of play. "We're playing well in the middle of the field and our defense is strong," said Thompson, "but I had at least five one on ones, and that's way too many."

Prior to the 1994 West Coast Conference Championship game, the All-West Coast Conference team was named on Tuesday. Soebye was named Offensive Player of the Year, and was named to the All-Conference team, becoming the first four-time selection in WCC history. A unanimous selection, Soebye was joined on the first team by sophomore defender Tim Weaver. McDonald was named to the All-WCC Second Team, along with defenders Matt Beavers, David Kurtz-Reyes, and Jason Wescott, while Thompson received an Honorable Mention.

Hilltoppers dropped three in a row, including the Don's only loss ever to Gonzaga. Losing these games ruined their previously perfect conference record and puts them out of contention for the WCC title and a playoff berth. Knowing this and playing for pride, the Dons defeated 18th ranked California at Negoesco stadium 3-2 Tuesday night. The overtime win was the Hilltoppers' third win this season against a top 20 opponent, serving to accentuate the peaks and valleys of this roller coaster season, scorers for USF were Jason Wescott, Tomas Kald, and Shane Watkins. The Dons only made two substitutions throughout the entire match, but the starting lineup featured some familiar players in unfamiliar positions. Team captain Jason Wescott once again started in the midfield. Offensive playmaker Erik Lemoine started the game in the unusual position of sweeper (TheFoghorn).
